We knew from the beginning that we were looking for companies with a genuine interest in change and a real challenge that needs creative solutions. We seem to have stumbled on a perfect case.
Exclusive Cottons of the Caribbean is a Barbados-based company that buys the cotton grown on Barbados, to market and sell on the domestic and international markets. This special, hand-picked long-staple cotton grown on Barbados and Jamaica is called West Indian Sea Island Cotton (WISIC). This logo was created in the 1940s. WISIC is considered to be among the finest cottons in the world, partly because of its long staples.
Our challenge is to find new ways to lift the Barbados cotton industry, from exporting cotton lint to developing and selling cloth, textiles and finished goods. Anders is going to Barbados in two weeks to find out more.
